You may remember that we welcomed two boys Alex and Laszlo, along with their parents, into the Open Hands Family Support Program in January 2015.
Last week I spoke to the boys father, Richi, who was chuffed at all the progress they have made. Open Hands offered the family a small plot of land and it turns out that Richi has a hand for growing veggies. Through the Open Hands monthly support the family was also able to invest in a small piglet. Richi is enjoying this positive change in the families lives. When I asked him what has changed for them since they joined the program he shakes his head in disbelief and replies: 'So, so much!' The family is eager to learn how to live a self-sustainable lifestyle. Next year we are planning to offer more land to Richi on which to grow foods.
It is wonderful to see this family flourishing within our Program. Richi loves animals so much that he even adopted a little Pit Bull puppy off the streets!
